At the age of 12 Karl was unable to utter a single word in English!
Perhaps that explains his drive to speak, write and spell so well. It may also explain his passion for other languages and cultures he can order take out in a number of tongues.
Travel receives a high priority on Karl’s “list of things to do before you die”. Having spent the first years of his life in Germany, it was only natural his promotion to manage the Rio de Janeiro office of Ernst & Ernst (now known as Ernst & Young) for three years was recognized as a great opportunity to add Portuguese to his skills. And so the family embarked on a wonderful adventure.
Drinking good German “Brahma Chop” beer, living half a block from the beach, wearing a gorilla mask to the most fabulous Mardi Gras in the world and ogling the beautiful girls from Ipanema wasn’t a bad way to learn a new language and develop an affection for theBrazilian people. Temos saudades!!!
However, Karl isn’t all about having fun. He graduated from California State University, San Francisco at the top of his class, was wined and dined by the “Big Eight” before graduation, aced the CPA test on his first attempt, and spent 12 years with Ernst & Ernst before deciding he preferred closer and more personal contact with clients. He has been a part of Jones, Henle & Schunck for over 25 years and continues to enjoy that close relationship with clients, staff and partners and the commute and quality of life ain’t bad either.
